Profile Details

Sally has an extensive criminal law practice and has acted in a wide range of criminal matters.

She is a highly experienced trial advocate and has appeared at all levels of the criminal law jurisdiction. Sally has extensive trial experience in the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria and has appeared in a number of murder trials in the Supreme Court. Sally appears for both the prosecution and defence.

Sally also appears for and provides advice to government departments in relation to criminal and regulatory matters. She regularly appears and provides advice in matters of public interest immunity. Sally has experience in advising and appearing in matters under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. She also appears in quasi-criminal matters and has substantial experience in appearing in proceedings under the Serious Offenders Act 2018.

Sally is an experienced appellate advocate and appears in the Court of Appeal in both conviction and sentence appeals. She also has extensive experience in written appellate work.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Sally worked as a solicitor at the Office of Public Prosecutions acquiring a broad expertise in all areas of criminal law. Sally signed the Bar Roll in 2004, mentored by Marc Sargent (now Magistrate Marc Sargent).

Sally is recognised as a Recommended Criminal Law Senior Counsel in Doyles Guide.

Committees

Sally is the Vice Chair of the Criminal Bar Association.

She is an accredited advocacy coach and has travelled to Vanuatu to teach advocacy on a number of occasions as part of a program facilitated by the Victorian Bar.
