Fiona accepts briefs to appear and advise in all criminal law and quasi-criminal law matters including disciplinary matters, tribunal proceedings, regulatory prosecutions, coronial inquests and inquiries. She accepts briefs in metropolitan and regional courts and accepts both prosecution and defence briefs.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Fiona practised at the Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) for 9 years as a Senior and then Principal Solicitor and for the last 3 years was the Legal Prosecution Specialist in the Specialist Sex Offences Unit.

She has extensive criminal law knowledge and experience, particularly in sex crimes, and managed a large and complex file load involving homicide, serious sexual offences including historical sexual offending, drug and violence matters. She had carriage of the prosecution of several high-profile cases.

She also has experience in proceedings under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to Be Tried) Act 1997.

Fiona is an experienced advocate and has appeared regularly in the Magistrates’ and County Courts. She has significant experience in preparing highly complex matters for committal and trial.

Prior to working at the OPP Fiona was a solicitor with Victoria Police and prosecuted family violence-related proceedings.

In addition to her formal employment, Fiona spent eight years at the Springvale Monash Legal Service as a volunteer solicitor and clinic supervisor. She has significant experience in supporting highly vulnerable members of the community through the legal process.

Fiona graduated from Monash University and received the Monash University Law Prize for Academic Excellence in Advanced Professional Practice.
