Diana has extensive experience as an advocate in all jurisdictions of the criminal law. She has appeared in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, County Court, Magistrates’ Court, Coroner’s Court and Children’s Court. She has also appeared in courts in NSW and South Australia. In addition to criminal work, she accepts briefs in proceeds of crime matters, IVO matters, extradition and other matters with a quasi-criminal focus.
Diana has experience in representing both the prosecution and defence. Prior to coming to the Bar, she worked as a criminal defence advocate and spent 10 years working in the prosecution service of the State of Victoria.
Diana’s abilities were recognised by her appointment as an Associate Crown Prosecutor in 2010, among the first solicitor advocates to be so appointed in Victoria. She is experienced in both written and oral appellate advocacy and trial advocacy and has appeared in homicide, and sexual offence cases as well as matters involving crimes committed against the person, corruption, drug importation, trafficking and use, historical offences, occupational health and safety offences, mental health matters and crimes committed against the justice system.
Diana also has extensive experience in advice work and is available to accept briefs to advise in complex and esoteric matters. Her advice work has been the subject of commendation by senior law enforcement officers and prosecution authorities.
She holds a Masters of Law degree from The University of Melbourne (2012) and an Honours degree in Science and Law from the same university (2003). She is also fluent in written and spoken Macedonian.
