Matthew is included on the Victoria Legal Aid Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List.
He was a co-founder of the Mercy Campaign, a movement to support the clemency applications made by Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, and is a board member of Reprieve Australia (president, 2011 - 2015), a non-profit organisation dedicated to the international abolition of the death penalty.
Matthew is currently a representative to the Steering Committee of the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
In addition to criminal proceedings, he may be briefed in public interest matters that concern the protection of human rights.
